700 Chestnut Street
700 Chestnut Street is a large adaptive re-use project in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia at the corner of Chestnut Street and 7th Street. The audacious project proposes to keep the Magaziner, Eberhard & Harris designed early 20th century office building (Formerly home to Stephen Starr’s restaurant, Jones ) at the corner of the site. The adjacent three story building will be demolished and the historic facade will be rebuilt to match the original 5 story brick building that was home to The Evening Telegraph. A 14 story tower and overbuild is planned and has been conceptually approved by the Philadelphia Historic Commission earlier this year. The proposal includes multiple amenity and venue floors as well as a high end hotel operator. Construction is set to begin in the Spring of 2024.
